Teaching Young Learners

 

This course explores special areas of interest related specifically to the young English learner, in this course considered approximately between the ages of four and twelve years old. This course considers some of the research and practical reasons behind teaching English to young learners. The development of language in children, using meaning to construct language, the importance of student-centered teaching and the usage of various tasks and activities will be examined. Students will also discuss the place for speaking, vocabulary, reading, writing, and grammar for the young learner. Modern issues relating to the young learner and English will be explored as students cooperate to find answers to these modern problems and compare answers with researchers.
