Dr. SungHun Kim serves at the Dean of the Graduate School of TESOL at Dankook University.

Shannon Tanghe

Shannon Tanghe is the head professor at DKU's MA TESOL program.  She has been teaching at Dankook University since 2006. Prior to Korea, Shannon has also taught in Egypt and Guyana. Shannon is an active publisher and presenter, presenting at more than 20 global TESOL conferences in Cambodia, Korea, the United States, Hong Kong, and Thailand. Her research has been published in English Today, International Journal of Innovation in English Language Teaching and Research, and STEM Journal. Her main research interests are teacher education, collaborative co-teaching and World Englishes.

Charles Copeland

Charles Copeland received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication/Theater from Indiana University in Indianapolis in 1995. He completed his Master's degree in TESOL at Dankook University in February, 2010. He has been teaching in Korea for 18 years at various levels. He has been a professor at Dankook University since March 2008.

Christian H. Kim is an associate professor at the English education department at Konkuk University. He grew up in New York and has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Master’s degree in TESOL from Columbia University,, and is ABD in Ph.D. from the English education department at Seoul National University. His interests are mostly in second language acquisition and second language assessment. He has written numerous textbooks and is involved in various second language testing projects in Korea.

Nils Olov Fors

Nils Olov (Olaf) Fors is a teacher, textbook writer, and teacher trainer. He has taught writing, linguistics, and EFL/ESL for over ten years in the U.S., China, and Sweden, and is currently a professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul.  His research interests include multilingualism, critical discourse analysis, critical education research, and composition theory and pedagogy, and he has presented papers at key conferences including AAAL (American Association for Applied Linguistics), CCCC (Conference on College Composition and Communication), TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), APERA (Asia-Pacific Education Research Association), IAWE (International Association of World Englishes), AILA (International Association of Applied Linguistics), and NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English). Olaf has written and edited several EFL textbooks and textbook series, and is the main writer of the Revised Senior English for China textbook series that was used nationwide in China from 2003-2008. In his spare time, Olaf enjoys playing the drums, sports, and scuba diving.

Ian MacDonald

Professor Ian MacDonald received a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) Degree from Queen’s University at Kingston in 1997, a Master of Arts Degree in 1999, and passed the comprehensive examinations for a Ph.D. in 2003. Before joining the faculty of Dankook University in 2005, he taught at Queen’s University School of English in Canada and Seoul Women’s University. He currently teaches English Composition and Rhetoric in the Department of English Language and Literature, the Graduate School of Education, and the Graduate School of TESOL. Research activities include genre analysis, contrastive rhetoric, and second language writing.

Catherine Gallagher

Catherine Gallagher has been an instructor of English composition and communication in South Korea for over eight years.  In addition to her previous work as a teacher trainer for S.M.O.E., Catherine has also presented at national conferences in Korea, and is currently part of the Sejong University faculty.  She earned a Masters of TESOL from Dankook University, and is currently working towards her Doctorate of Education at The University of Exeter.  Her research interests include gender construction in education, young learners, and critical pedagogies in practice.
